Mya Cooke experiments with retouching techniques for the Personal Portfolio module

For this module, we were asked to create a portfolio with at least 10 images. This portfolio could contain whatever style of photography we wanted to do. I wanted to go the post-production route to try something new and different. What inspired me to try post-production was I saw a neon image on Google, and I thought it looked really cool and interesting. I like post-production work, and by doing something like this, it would broaden my knowledge in post-production.

I was initially going to do 5 landscape and 5 portraiture images, but I preferred my portraiture images. So, I created 10 neon images, with 3 different shapes, triangle, rectangle and circle. It was hard to pick the shapes because not all shapes would fit with what I was trying to achieve, so I chose 3 common shapes. 

4 out of my 10 images have text. I wanted to give the text a go and see how it would look with the images and I was surprised and glad that it worked. But my main issue was colour, I didn’t want to be repetitive, and not a lot of colours suit a neon glow, for example brown, brown wouldn’t work as well as blue or pink, so I had to choose bright colours, colours that would pop against black and stand out, and I think I achieved that.
