This month\u2019s item is an album of 38 original cartoon illustrations by William \u00a0A. Freeman. He was a student at St Paul\u2019s College from 1925-1927 with an obvious talent for art. His widow donated the album to the archives in 1999. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The dedication by William’s widow at the front of the album reads \u201cTo Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Higher Education from Mrs Grace Freeman. In memory of William A Freeman the artist 21st December 1994. Cartoonist, sly wit and erstwhile poet? A dear man\u201d.<\/span><\/div>\n

The cartoons are immaculately drawn and often witty. The artist, like the writer of this blog, seems to have had an affection for dogs as they feature in several of his pieces. <\/span><\/div>\n
