This phrase (not uttered) really sums up the current coronavirus crisis internationally. We are all trying our best to navigate the crisis, we are all trying with good intentions to do the right thing. We are all trying to show compassion, goodwill, determination and managing our community stress level! We had designed an artist\nin residence program to produce visual content inspired by our archive\ncollections. However, since we all need a period of self-isolation \u2013 this project\nhas taken a very different turn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are going to press ahead via remote means as best we can. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artistarchivist.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Artist Archivist <\/a>is a well-known creative practitioner who has merged their professional Artist &amp; Archivist practices. Using creative output, Artist Archivist uses institutionally generated archival data to create new narratives. The work explores the ethics of visually manipulating information, alternating the narratives that have been preserved within archive collections. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/uniofglos.blog\/specialcollections\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/03\/Hand-scaled.jpg?fit=699%2C1024&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2418\" \/><figcaption>Artist Archivist collage<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Everyday in April, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artistarchivist.com\/lockdownresidency\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.artistarchivist.com\/lockdownresidency\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">archives located through-out the United Kingdom (and internationally) will post content via twitter using #Archive30<\/a> , loosely related to a daily theme. The records held cover an extraordinary large amount of unexpected themes, reveal hidden stories pertaining to a wide variety of subjects. These resources are available for public access, and can support your academic visual \/ written research projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The #Archive30 campaign is designed to promote our archived\nheritage; for archivists\u2019 to tell their stories. Indeed, the very fact we know\nHarold Macmillian did not say that phrase is a testament to the often, hidden\npurpose of an archive body. We preserve the collective memories of communities,\nsociety, institutions. We\nhold records evidencing <a href=\"https:\/\/sca.glos.ac.uk\/index.php\/university-of-gloucestershire-archive\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">our\nUniversity historical heritage<\/a>. Hold over 80000 photographic prints within\nthe <a href=\"https:\/\/sca.glos.ac.uk\/index.php\/independent-television-news-itn-stills-archive\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International\nTelevision News<\/a> archive, items used for the broadcast of international\nstories circa 1970 -1990. <a href=\"https:\/\/sca.glos.ac.uk\/index.php\/dymock-poets-special-collection\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The\nDymock Poets<\/a> collection concerning a literary community which was formed and\ncame to represent a significant development in the modern poetic tradition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Originally, we asked Artist Archivist to browse records of\ninterest and respond. Our residency was designed to be our fundamental\ncontribution to the #Archive30 campaign. Due to events, we now must now enter a\nmuch deeper thoughtful collaboration from our respective isolated positions. This\nArtist Residency has sort of transformed into an Artist Archivist Residency!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will try our best, but if we\u2019re able to provide you with\nshort distraction from international events \u2013 we feel we will have succeeded.\n#Archive30 will be on-going from April 1<sup>st<\/sup> \u2013 April 30<sup>th<\/sup>.
