With the exciting launch of our new fashion courses BA (Hons) Fashion Design<\/a> and Fashion and Textiles (Strategic Alliance FdA)<\/a>, our item of the month focuses on historic fashion course provision by our predecessor colleges.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Special Collections and Archives hold a variety of material on the fashion course run by the Gloucestershire College of Art and Design (and later by GlosCAT and Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Higher Education). This ranges from the 1970s – 1990s and includes prospectuses, photographs, slides, resource guides and VHS tapes. Below are images from the 1973-1974 Diploma in Art and Design (DipAD) Fashion course prospectus.<\/span><\/p>\n

Special Collections and Archives staff will be working with fellow library and marketing staff to digitise and make available film from our VHS holdings. These show a range of catwalk shows\u00a0of student creations in both Cheltenham and London.\u00a0We plan to preview this at the forthcoming fashion launch event in November and make the footage available via the University’s Media Library<\/a>.
