This time I was in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.malmesbury.wilts.sch.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Malmesbury,<\/a> to visit some year 12 and 13 students to talk about applying moral theory to dilemmas. <\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div>I talked about the <a href=\"http:\/\/r-p-e.blogspot.com\/2007\/03\/ethics-in-ones-who-walk-away-from.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Omelas short story<\/a>, and the Runaway Trolley Car, and other moral problems. There is a list of some more of these types of moral dile<a href=\"http:\/\/www.malmesbury.wilts.sch.uk\/templates\/ja_iris\/images\/malmesbury\/logo.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"98\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.malmesbury.wilts.sch.uk\/templates\/ja_iris\/images\/malmesbury\/logo.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>mmas at <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/magazine\/4954856.stm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/magazine\/4954856.stm<\/a>  &#8211; and what we noted was the none od us had actually ever faced these decisions at all (yet). We then went on to try and think of dilemmas and difficult choices that we had faced, and whether moral theories such as Utilitarianism were of any help&#8230;<\/div>\n<div> <\/div>\n<div>The session was <em>lively &#8211; <\/em>and I enjoyed myself &#8211; and I think I learned some things &#8211; I hope the class did to.
