Climate Change at UNI of Gloucestershire Religion Philosophy and Ethics

As part of one of our level 5 modules students have been asked to engage with active research when it comes to the relationship between religious and spiritual movements and the question of the environment and the climate change emergency. This week Red Kelino, a prominent member of the Stroud Extinction Rebellion community came in to speak to the students about these issues. He presented the position of Extinction Rebellion in a very informed, balanced and insightful manner, encouraging questions and debates and not shying away from the more controversial aspects of non violent civil disobedience. There were also questions concerning capitalism, politics, diversity, ethnicity and race in the movement and all in all it was a really informative and important session for students, lecturers and XR members alike.
