He was President of the Landscape Institute 1979-81 and LI delegate to IFLA 1980-90 &amp; 2002-06. He served on the Royal Fine Art Commission 1988-99 and the National Trust Architectural Panel 1991-2009. He has illustrated the wide scope of his landscape work, countryside, industrial, historic restoration, urban parkland, etc in his book \u2018SLOW GROWTH on the art of landscape architecture\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hal received the 2019 Landscape Institute Lifetime award and is a member of the IFLA Advisory Circle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the Interviewer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.glos.ac.uk\/courses\/undergraduate\/laa\/staff-profiles\/pages\/s2116513-ying-li.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dr Ying Li <\/a>\uff08\u674e\u6ee2\uff09, AMLI, Academic Course Leader in Landscape Architecture BA(Hons), founder of Urban Spaces Innovation Centre (USIC) at the University of Gloucestershire, UK. Previously Ying worked at Martha Schwartz Partner Ltd, London, and has lectured in Birmingham, London, HK, Brazil and mainland China since completing her PhD in Small Urban Public Open Space Design and Planning. She was trained as a pianist and Chinese folk singer since childhood. Ying is a member of the IFLA Advisory Circle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the Landscape Architecture Department at the University of Gloucestershire<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Established in 1961, we are the longest-running course of its kind in the UK.
