More info below, flier available here &#8230;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/uniofglos.blog\/landscapearchitecture\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/38\/2019\/04\/li-sw-sls-flyer-14-04-15.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LI SW SLS Flyer 14-04-15<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div><span style=\"font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;font-size:small\">Antony is an artist, researcher and Artist in Residence with the Countryside and Community Research Institute at the University of Gloucestershire, a year-long artist-residency supported by a Leverhulme Fellowship grant.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;font-size:small\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family:Calibri, sans-serif;font-size:small\">Through the autumn and early winter the bulk of the activity has been filming &#8211; mainly on the Lydney-Newnham coast, on the edges of the Forest of Dean &#8211; often &#8216;among the trembling reeds&#8217;. In this, the process itself looms larger than the &#8216;outputs&#8217;; these are not pre-determined, and will morph and multiply over time. Time is of the essence &#8211; spending time, turning over stones, building trust and knowledge.<br \/>\n&#8230;weaving while dreaming<br \/>\n&#8230;dreaming while weaving<\/p>\n<p><i>&#8220;The soft rush (Juncus effusus) is called igusa in Japanese and is used to weave the soft surface cover of tatami mats&#8221;<\/i><span style=\"font-family:Cambria, serif;font-size:small\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-family:Georgia, serif;font-size:small\"><br \/>\n<\/span>It&#8217;s a form of geopoetic <a href=\"https:\/\/staffmail.glos.ac.uk\/owa\/redir.aspx?C=yMROK3qOWEOrviKtm5e9DYaTeS6APtIIvsASlByvMjtiR5yWX32f3kgWNyGrZH6PsOpDcpHxmQk.&amp;URL=http%3a%2f%2fwww.iainbiggs.co.uk%2ftext-deep-mapping-as-an-essaying-of-place%2f\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color:windowtext\">deep mapping<\/span><\/a>. The &#8216;mappers&#8217; are themselves changed by the setting.<\/p>\n<p>Subjects being woven here include: working on the edge; layers of place; real and metaphysical associations; atmosphere, emotion, connection; light and dark; nature and culture; dreams, undercurrents\/shadows, the spirit of the river\/water (Sabrina)+ the reality of survival on this coast; tides; mud (and mud-walking); environmental change; counter-currents and counter-voices; vestigially; knowing and unknowing; personal and political.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The next Sustainable Landscape Series presentation is by Antony Lyons, Artist-in-Residence at the CCRI.
