BRISTOL SITE VISIT
On Tuesday October 13th, the MA Landscape Architecture cohort made a whole day visit to Bristol to support modules AD7677 and AD7602.
Vaswar Mitra and I met the group at the new Eastern Entrance to Temple Meads Station. We spent some time on the newly opened site of the University of Bristol Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus, a project that both Vaswar and I know well from working on it many years. We talked to the students about the design process from concept to detail as well as anecdotes from the project.
Once the rain subsided, we dried off in the beautiful sunshine. We spent time on the terrace, which was open on the day. We enjoyed the enclosure and atmosphere offered by the trees planted in the terrace.

We made our way towards the AD7602 site in St Philips Marsh, walking along the street all the way to Spark Evans Park, and then returning along the river. We stopped and remarked on the different characters along the walk.

We enjoyed the colourful and textural graffiti art along the way!

And a trip to Bristol is not complete without a Banksy experience. We spent the afternoon in Wapping Wharf looking at the Design West/Bristol BID Green Ideas Competition sites. We got rained on at lunchtime but luckily we found shelter under the umbrellas at Wapping Wharf.

A beautiful clear October day in Bristol – what more could we ask for our 20,000 steps? What does not come across in the images is the wind – its evidence found in red faces at the end. Lise Benningen
