OCTOBER 2026 FIELD VISITS

We had a full day’s tour around the Forest of Dean last week and this morning a site visit to Barnwood park and arboretum in Gloucester.

AD7604 the planning module uses the whole of the Forest of Dean district and the day’s coach tour took us to the towns of Cinderford, Coleford and Lydney, while also passing through the core forest and peripheral agricultural areas.

Photos below show clockwise from top left: miners’ memorial, Cinderford; street art, Coleford; former Beachley-Aust ferry terminal; Thuja plantation near Parkend.

AD5604 sustainable technology module this year is using Barnwood park and arboretum in Gloucester. Ron Keasley from the Friends of the Park gave us a useful introduction to the history and main features, pointing out the tree problems suffered this year because of the summer drought or is it climate change?
