In this new series of posts, we\u2019ll be looking at what our former students do after they graduate in History at the University of Gloucestershire. It will demonstrate the various types of employment history graduates can go into,\u00a0providing some useful guides for existing students, but also highlight the fascinating journeys of our graduates. The next post comes from Luke Stagg (class of 2016).<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

After graduating from the University of Gloucestershire, I moved back home to help my parents in the running of their business for several months, assisting in areas from administration to stock control and marketing. Following this, I moved through a few different roles before joining DAC Beachcroft as a Procurement Administrator. In this role I act as a key member of the team, providing vital administrative and organisational support to my colleagues, as well as acting as a central point of contact both for company employees and external suppliers.<\/p>\n

The History course at the University of Gloucestershire honed my personal organisational skills and attention to detail, which are invaluable when it comes to reading, analysing and vetting supplier contracts, as well as in managing a demanding and varied array of day-to-day tasks.<\/p>\n

Life as a student at the University of Gloucestershire was a genuinely rewarding experience \u2013 one of the best memories I have from my time there was a trip in my third year to the National Civil War Centre<\/a> in Newark. As well as visiting the museum proper, (Dr) Erin (Peters)<\/a> arranged for us all to go and meet some of the people behind the museum, including a session where we could examine and even personally handle some of the incredible artifacts they\u2019d collected, from books and coins to weapons and armour (see below)!<\/p>\n
