Should higher education look to the future or the past?<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We tend to be told to look to the future when planning, but in a world increasingly characterised by its volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity, is that even possible? In this session, Wonkhe\u2019s Jim Dickinson<\/strong> will consider the ways in which being ready to evaluate, challenge and sometimes embrace conventional wisdom can help us cope with the world around us to ensure students thrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About Jim Dickinson<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Jim is an Associate Editor at Wonkhe and takes a particular interest in student experience, university governance, and regulation \u2013 and leads their work with students\u2019 unions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His career background is in support for student leadership. He has held senior roles at the National Union of Students \u2013 where he led on SU development, campaigns and political strategy \u2013 and was the CEO at the SU at UEA, providing strategic management for the union\u2019s charitable and commercial vehicles as well as policy support for the elected student officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jim has served as a governor and trustee in both further and higher education and the voluntary sector, and is a regular speaker at sector events and conferences. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts, an obsessive fan of the Eurovision Song Contest, and dreams of visiting Moldova.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
