Welcome to the Festival of Learning 2020, which celebrates your learning, teaching and assessment practices over a rather extraordinary academic year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Festival planning began before the world had embraced social distancing, but the theme of Designing Learning for Student Engagement<\/em> has assumed even greater relevance as we consider the principles that will help us to organise and secure successful online and blended learning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The\u00a0Festival\u00a0belongs to you;\u00a0it has been shaped by your efforts,\u00a0which you have\u00a0captured\u00a0as\u00a0a wealth of\u00a0digital\u00a0contributions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Academic Exchanges<\/strong> showcase innovative academic practice and support for learning from across the institution and partner colleges. <\/em>Many of you share your direct experiences of moving teaching online, whilst others showcase pedagogic approaches that are important to transfer to blended learning environments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Keynote Workshop<\/strong>, facilitated by Professor Mick Healey and Dr Ruth Healey, will encourage us to consider how we can work with our students to engage them in their learning, in offline, online and blended learning environments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The LIFT Lab<\/strong> shares stories from the 2019\/20 Learning Innovation for Tomorrow projects, working on curriculum enrichment and student development with their subject communities, partners and across the university. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Three Minute Thesis Final <\/strong>showcases a range of postgraduate research, but who will emerge as the winner? <\/p>\n\n\n\n And last, but by no means least, the Women Professors\u2019 Group and UoG Women\u2019s Network Discussion <\/strong>explores the ways that women can support and empower each other to strive for and to achieve career and personal goals within the university and in academia at large. <\/p>\n\n\n\n There is\u00a0an abundance\u00a0of good practice\u00a0across\u00a0the institution and\u00a0now more than ever\u00a0we\u00a0should\u00a0share\u00a0this internally and externally.\u00a0Take time over the three days of the\u00a0Festival\u00a0to immerse yourself in the successes and productive failures that have attended our courageous pedagogy;\u00a0learn more from the live conversations with colleagues; and\u00a0feel proud of all that\u00a0you have achieved this year.\u00a0Above all else,\u00a0be assured that our\u00a0collective\u00a0expertise, enthusiasm, courage\u00a0and compassion\u00a0places us in a\u00a0strong\u00a0position to move forward into the new\u00a0era\u00a0of blended learning,\u00a0making lasting improvements to our students\u2019 learning experience.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n In short, enjoy\u00a0your<\/em>\u00a0Festival of Learning\u00a0and I look forward to meeting you online very soon.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n Welcome to the Festival of Learning 2020, which celebrates your learning, teaching and assessment practices over a rather extraordinary academic year.
