{"id":2017,"date":"2021-12-15T10:04:23","date_gmt":"2021-12-15T10:04:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uniofglos.blog\/festivaloflearning\/?p=2017"},"modified":"2021-12-15T10:04:23","modified_gmt":"2021-12-15T10:04:23","slug":"welcome-and-introduction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.glos.ac.uk\/festivaloflearning\/2021\/12\/15\/welcome-and-introduction\/","title":{"rendered":"Welcome and Introduction"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Welcome to the Festival of Learning&nbsp;2020, which celebrates your learning,&nbsp;teaching&nbsp;and assessment practices&nbsp;over&nbsp;a rather extraordinary&nbsp;academic year.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Festival planning began before the world&nbsp;had&nbsp;embraced social distancing,&nbsp;but&nbsp;the theme&nbsp;of&nbsp;<em>Designing&nbsp;Learning for&nbsp;Student&nbsp;Engagement<\/em>&nbsp;has&nbsp;assumed&nbsp;even greater&nbsp;relevance&nbsp;as we consider the principles that will help us to organise and secure successful online and blended learning.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0Festival\u00a0belongs to you;\u00a0it has been shaped by your efforts,\u00a0which you have\u00a0captured\u00a0as\u00a0a wealth of\u00a0digital\u00a0contributions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Academic&nbsp;Exchanges<\/strong>&nbsp;showcase innovative academic practice and support for learning from across the institution and partner colleges<em>.&nbsp;<\/em>Many&nbsp;of you&nbsp;share&nbsp;your&nbsp;direct experiences of moving teaching online, whilst others showcase pedagogic approaches that are important to transfer to blended learning environments.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Keynote&nbsp;Workshop<\/strong>,&nbsp;facilitated by&nbsp;Professor&nbsp;Mick&nbsp;Healey&nbsp;and&nbsp;Dr&nbsp;Ruth Healey,&nbsp;will&nbsp;encourage us to consider&nbsp;how we can work with&nbsp;our&nbsp;students to engage them&nbsp;in their learning,&nbsp;in&nbsp;offline,&nbsp;online and blended&nbsp;learning environments.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>LIFT Lab<\/strong>&nbsp;shares stories from the 2019\/20&nbsp;Learning Innovation for Tomorrow&nbsp;projects,&nbsp;working on curriculum enrichment and student development with their subject communities, partners and across the university.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Three&nbsp;Minute&nbsp;Thesis&nbsp;Final&nbsp;<\/strong>showcases a range of postgraduate research, but who will emerge as the winner?&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And last, but by no means least,&nbsp;the&nbsp;<strong>Women Professors\u2019 Group and&nbsp;UoG&nbsp;Women\u2019s&nbsp;Network&nbsp;Discussion&nbsp;<\/strong>explores&nbsp;the ways that women can support and empower each other to strive for and to achieve career and personal goals within the&nbsp;university and in academia at large.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is\u00a0an abundance\u00a0of good practice\u00a0across\u00a0the institution and\u00a0now more than ever\u00a0we\u00a0should\u00a0share\u00a0this internally and externally.\u00a0Take time over the three days of the\u00a0Festival\u00a0to immerse yourself in the successes and productive failures that have attended our courageous pedagogy;\u00a0learn more from the live conversations with colleagues;
