Student colours: Recognising the make-up of a learner
Simon Packard (School of Creative Arts)
Brought on by a difficult experience trying to run and receive useful feedback from a mid-module review, I took to drawing the complexities and experiences of my learners as a way of coming to know them. I have made drawings and colour illustrations of my students which highlight what I believe are the relative areas which influence their learning outcomes.
This presentation offers embryonic observations, but it may offer an alternative methodology through making a different and visual representation of learners. The method has helped me to question the support I have offered to my learners, promoting reflection in a manner that moves away from traditional written forms of introspection. I will share with you my drawings, and explain their emergence, to see if they enlighten you to think and act differently with your learners.
