Employability, enterprise and entrepreneurship: Embedding critical thinking and reflection into the curriculum
Emily Beaumont (School of Business, Computing and Social Sciences) and Gemma Tandy (Your Future Plan)
This academic exchange showcases the results of a University Teaching Fellowship project. The aim was to understand the effect of including critical thinking and reflection in the curriculum on students’ abilities to understand and articulate skills, behaviours and competencies associated with the 3Es (employability, enterprise and entrepreneurship).
Critical thinking and reflection skills were embedded in the curriculum of one course across three modules (Level 4, 5 and 6). Using the Questionnaire for Reflective Thinking (QRT), pre and post surveys from all students registered to these modules were conducted to consider the impact of this intervention.
