AI x CROWD SOURCING X CO PRODUCTION

A University of Gloucestershire research project 2025-26

This research project combines crowd-sourced data, community engagement, and AI-driven analysis to quantify litter, understand behaviours, and inform interventions. Drawing from University expertise in sociology, computing, and consumer behaviour, the research engages local councils, communities, and brands to co-produce evidence-based solutions.

Outcomes include actionable insights for policy and environmental protection, tools to encourage corporate responsibility, and strategies to shift social norms and reduce littering. The project offers the first systematic approach to documenting litter, empowering communities, influencing policy, and protecting rural ecosystems.
