At the start of the module, my plan was to explore set design through the\u00a0different\u00a0eras. However, due to the current circumstances this was out of my reach because of the unavailability of\u00a0building materials. After a think, I had decided to look into minimalistic product photography\u00a0shot\u00a0on different coloured plain backgrounds. This was my direction until week 6\u2019s formative feedback,\u00a0where I was made aware\u00a0that\u00a0my ideas didn\u2019t fully\u00a0meet the brief\u00a0as there was\u00a0no clear narrative between my chosen products. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I returned to the drawing board which led me to\u00a0the idea of\u00a0commercial food and drink\u00a0photography. I thought of\u00a0pairing five food images with five drink images\u00a0on contrasting background colours. This\u00a0idea still allowed me to\u00a0be\u00a0creative\u00a0with compositions\u00a0but ensured I showed\u00a0a much clearer narrative across the series. After some research into James Day\u2019s still life work, I\u00a0was influenced\u00a0to show a common feature throughout all my images, which was a human hand. Performing a different action across the series, I feel it adds perspective and another creative element to the images. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From sketching up all ten images beforehand, I had\u00a0a good guide to shooting each one\u00a0across the two weeks I allocated for production. All images required post production\u00a0(Photoshop) to some extent but this mainly focused on cleaning up the backgrounds and the torn holes my model\u2019s hand comes through.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
