The narrative I chose to take on for my brief explores the concept of growing up as a Generation Z teenager in a small rural town, very much stuck in the past. I was inspired by Hip-Hop photographer Gunner Stahl (@gunnerstahl.us on instagram) for his nonchalant approach to portraiture.

These images are of my 16 year old sister Hermione in our Cotswolds home town of Tetbury, Gloucestershire. I chose specifically to take these of her there because I know first-hand what it is like growing up there, especially as there is not a lot for young people to do, with the nearest city of Bristol being a 40 minute drive away. This narrative I find particularly interesting because there’s a massive juxtaposition between the fast-paced, social media orientated side of a teenager’s life and living in a very small town which can appear quite desolate to someone of that age.

Daisy talks about the inspiration and subject behind her portraits, her sister.
