Registration for Development Counts Online Dissemination Event on 16th March 2022 Now Open!

Registration for our end of project online dissemination event has opened today. This event will bring together global development professionals and educators involved in teaching data skills to explore the debates around data skills and the development agenda. The keynote ‘Big and Open Data for Development: Mind the Gaps’ will be delivered by Prof. Sabina Leonelli, Professor of Philosophy and the History of Science at the University of Exeter, UK.
We will also introduce the data and development learning resources developed through the Development Counts Project. These resources are designed to ‘open the appetite’ of non-data specialist students interested in global development to the potential of data and data skills. They include a self-study MOOC and a complementary instructor-led programme which universities globally can jointly run. The MOOC provides a grounding in key content related to data for development whilst the instructor led programme focuses on facilitating students to form international teams to work on data for development collaborative projects. We will explain how other universities can use the resources – including our ‘find a collaborator’ tool to identify partners to jointly run the instructor-led programme with.
This event is free and open to all. We particularly encourage those involved in teaching data skills to non-specialist undergraduate students and current students interested in global development and/or data skills, as well as the broader data for development community, to come along and find out more.
This event, organised by UNED, our project partner leading on dissemination, will take place online on 16th March 2022 12:00-15:00 GMT/13:00-16:00 CET. The event will be delivered by Microsoft Teams, and the link to the event will be sent to registered participants the day before the event.
The full programme will shortly be published on our website.
Hope to see you there!
