Reflecting on your life

You may like to try this – which I suggested in my post ‘First meetings’:

Find a time and a place where you can be comfortable, and undisturbed.

Find a way of sitting which is relaxed but alert, and open.

Spend a few moments quietly being still – letting things go – noticing the sounds around – noticing your breathing.

Offer this time to God and ask for his grace as you look back over your life.

Read Psalm 23 two or three times, slowly…

The Lord is my shepherd;  therefore can I lack nothing.

He makes me lie down in green pastures  and leads me beside still waters.

He shall refresh my soul  and guide me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil;

for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You spread a table before me in the presence of those who trouble me;

you have anointed my head with oil and my cup shall be full.

Surely goodness and loving mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,

and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Are there words or phrases that stand out for you?

Where are the connections with your story?

Are there points of difference?

What do you want to say to God?

Spend a few moments in quiet with the Lord.
