Classics Society talk: Classics in Africa with Dr Alexandra Chula
On the evening of Fri 17th November at 7pm a guest speaker, Dr. Alexander Chula, will be addressing our Classics Society on the theme of ‘Classics in Africa’.
Alex is a Classicist turned medical doctor who spent time in Malawi – drawing on his recently-published book, ‘Goodbye, Dr Banda’, his talk is a reflection on influences and parallels between Classical and African culture. You can read more about Alex and his book at https://www.alexanderchula.com/. We are hoping that the evening will appeal to Classicists, historians, and anyone with an interest in the dynamics and battlegrounds within and between cultures.
The talk will be held in Thirlestaine Long Gallery here at College (labelled 24 on the attached map; accessed from the Thirlestaine Road side), and I am very happy to accommodate any interested visitors at no extra charge. Please do get in touch with any questions/access issues, and let me know projected numbers by Monday 13th Nov.
