This project is a research project initiated and led by staff members at the University of Gloucestershire in collaboration with the Cheltenham West End Partnership and the Cheltenham Civic Society.
Working in partnership with Gloucester city council’s commission on race relations, this project began in 2020 to examine the heritage landscape of the city and the connections to transatlantic slavery.
"Slavery and abolitionism in Gloucestershire" was conducted by Sam Burgess, Steve Hannis, Harvey Pearce, Tom Gullick, Ben Haidon, Jordan Rosewarne, Callum Hughes and Lydia Horwell.
UoG history students take a look at the history of Gloucestershires textile industry from the 17th to 21st centuries.
