The University that Connects

That moment when you first move into halls. That moment when you meet your new best friends. That moment when you attend your first lecture. That moment when you graduate surrounded by friends and family. 
 
These are the moments that make university life special. These are connections. They’re what make life at UoG special. And they are the focus of the university’s new brand direction. 
 
University – UoG – is about moments and about connecting. 

Building on our refreshed identity 

In late 2023 and early 2024, our Vice-Chancellor Clare Marchant, along with colleagues from CMSR (now Marketing and Stakeholder Engagement, MSE), held a number of workshops to consider our University identity.  
 
More than 60 staff and 20 students took part in the main set of workshops, along with a wide range of other internal and external stakeholders through various catch ups, meetings and forums. The result of those workshops was a theme centred on us being The Connect University, which has resonated well with all concerned when Clare presented it in one of her catch ups earlier this year.

What does this mean in practice?  
It is important to note this is not a rebrand. We are not changing our name, our logo, our colour palette, or fonts we use.  
 
Rather, a brand proposition is a guiding force for a brand’s identity, messaging and creative output. This is about a collective shift in how we talk about University of Gloucestershire. We are moving away from ‘Meet Every Ambition’ as a proposition, and towards ‘The University that Connects’.  
 
This is about how we frame the University’s identity in our marketing, in our communications and in our conversations. This is all our responsibility, as we are all UoG brand advocates – and so we need your help. 

You can expect new desktop backgrounds and updated PowerPoint slides, and will start to see us roll out the brand across our campuses both physically and digitally. New email signature banners are already available to download.
