These records can be from anywhere in Cheltenham <s>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/s>for example, in your garden or viewed from a window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every contribution you make will be of benefit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can log your data using iRecord which is a huge database\nof species records. Last year for example, over 2 million records were added.\nThese are available to planners, researchers and wildlife enthusiasts to help\nthem understand and conserve the wildlife of their region. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your data will help us learn more about what wildlife there\nis in Cheltenham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The survey page will open at midnight on Monday 25th May and close on midnight Sunday\n31<sup>st<\/sup> May, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Entering a record<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will first need to register on iRecord, which is free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you\u2019ve registered, you can add your own wildlife records\nfor others to see.&nbsp; You can also see what has been recorded by others.\nYour data will be kept secure and will be regularly backed up.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All wildlife sightings for non-sensitive species are shared\nwith other users and will be made available to&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.brc.ac.uk\/recording-schemes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National\nRecording Schemes<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.alerc.org.uk\/find-an-lerc-map.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Local\nEnvironmental Record Centres<\/a>&nbsp;and County\nRecorders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want help identifying any wildlife that you see,\nplease have a look on our links page below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Register on iRecord<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before starting any work using\niRecord, make sure that you have registered a user account and can log in. Five of these have a red asterisk (*) next to them. These MUST be\nfilled in or you won\u2019t be able to save the record. Once you click on this tab, you can\u2019t return to your\nspecies list until you have put data in all the essential (red *) fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>After you have entered your records<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have entered a record, it will be reviewed by an expert. Expert verified records\ncan be used as evidence in planning enquiries, species atlases, and other\nofficial documents. Adding photos can really help with this. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, every record is valuable and\ncan help us get a better understanding of the wildlife of Cheltenham.
