About us

Are you a member of a local conservation group, scout group or church? Are you a school teacher in Cheltenham?

We have a range of bat-detecting kit that you can borrow to identify wildlife near you. You can borrow our bat detectors and run bat events at your site, and monitor other mammal species.

Learn how to use a bat detector, borrow our bat detectors and see if you can identify them.

Need some help? You can give your results to us and we can identify them for you and let you know the results. All you need to do is pick up the kit, and return back to me at our Francis Close Hall campus in Cheltenham.

Explore our range of resources. Learn how to use a bat detector. Borrow our bat detectors and help us protect and conserve bats around Cheltenham. We also have a range of other kit we are happy for you to borrow.

To date staff and students at University of Gloucestershire have delivered bat walks to over 400 people across Cheltenham.

Through our walks, we aim to teach people how to recognize the most common bat species, use bat detectors and learn how you can help conserve bats.
