Help us discover and record the wildlife of Cheltenham.

The green spaces of Cheltenham provide a rich environment for wildlife. We are lucky to have some beautiful parks that support a range of species. Our gardens also provide important habitats. There are about 24 million private gardens in Britain. They cover an area of about 270,000 ha (667,000 acres). Put together, this is an area 7 times the size of the Isle of Wight! These gardens provide food, shelter and breeding sites for a wide range of animals. They give us enjoyment and pleasure too.

Over the last year we have been running bat walks, moth trapping events and larger wildlife surveys across Cheltenham. We were hoping to run more events this year – but sadly we aren’t able to run them.

In the future I am hoping that we will be able to run more events during this week in May and start “Wildlife Week” in Cheltenham. During Wildlife Week we would like you to help us record the wildlife of Cheltenham and join us for events and surveys, fingers crossed for next year. This year we would love you help with 2 surveys.

How can you get involved?

We will be running two different surveys during Wildlife Week from Monday 25th May – Sunday 31^st May: the Cheltenham Wildlife Hunt, and the Cheltenham Wildlife Garden Survey.
