Hatherley Park bat walk

Our 3rd bat walk in a week. I was once again joined by Bobbie, a 2nd year student @Bobbidazzl3r, to lend a hand.

Thanks to the Friends of Pittville for getting everyone out.

It was good to see a crowd of about 30 people waiting for me.  We started with a quick talk about UK bats, some of the species we are likely to see and how we can identify them. We then handed out our bat detector and explained how they work.

We didn’t have to wait too long for the bats; more activity tonight. Some pipistrelle flying around the trees and paths, and lots of bats flying low over lake. Only the one species tonight but we spent 45 minutes watching them fly just above our heads close to the lake.

Thanks to everyone who came out for our walks, I hope you enjoyed them and learnt something about bats. Thanks Bobbie for all your help.
