Mike Compson entered St. Paul\u2019s College in 1964 where he developed his musical ability. He set up the Music Society, was an accomplished organist and put many hours into setting up a centre at Shaftesbury Hall which included fish tanks, animals and even a caiman, which had quite a bite. After college Mike taught music in local Black Country primary schools but he maintained his links with the college, becoming a staunch member of the Old Students\u2019 Association and served on the executive committee for many years holding the post of vice chairman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With Keith Beardmore he organised the chapel Reunion services held every two years. He was also responsible for the choir which sang on these occasions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jean Swift and Margaret Lavender tell how Mike never missed a meeting of the old students association and represented them at the University of Gloucestershire\u2019s graduation ceremony each year where he took responsibility for organising the Old Students Association awards to promising students. Like many others, Mike exemplified the \u201cChelt spirit\u201d and was a loyal member of the College and University for many years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
