{"id":3444,"date":"2023-09-28T13:38:37","date_gmt":"2023-09-28T12:38:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uniofglos.blog\/alumni\/?p=3444"},"modified":"2023-09-28T13:38:37","modified_gmt":"2023-09-28T12:38:37","slug":"could-you-be-a-mentor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.glos.ac.uk\/alumni\/2023\/09\/28\/could-you-be-a-mentor\/","title":{"rendered":"Could you be a mentor?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>After the success of our pilot programme in this year, the Your Future Plan team are proud to announce that our Professional Mentoring Programme will return in January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The programme is aimed at helping students develop their career confidence, build resilience, and support the growth of their employability skills. Starting in January, over a 12 week period there is an expectation of four to six mentoring sessions that can take place online or face to face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are also beginning to grow a great network of UoG Mentors, including lots of alumni as well as new external mentors, and have had two very successful networking events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So far, we have found the impact of the programme has included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Before the programme, 46% of students who registered felt confident identifying and presenting their skills and strengths. After the programme, this percentage increased to 86%.<\/li><li>Before the programme, 31% of students who registered felt clear about the next steps on their career plan. After the programme, this went up to 82%.<\/li><li>90% of our mentors will be mentoring again.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We are looking for\u00a0a broad range of individuals, who are interested in developing their own skills in coaching and leadership, while inspiring the future workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please be aware, we are not looking for experts within specific fields. We are looking for mentors with a breadth of&nbsp;<strong>life experience<\/strong>&nbsp;to share with our students.
