University to confer Honorary Degrees for Certificate of Education cohorts

We are delighted to announce that we are planning an event to confer Honorary Bachelor of Education Degrees for Certificate of Education cohorts who completed their award prior to – and including – 1982.

Today’s University of Gloucestershire has developed from several previous institutions, and these honorary awards are for those students from St Paul’s College, St Mary’s College, and the College of St Paul and St Mary.

Since 1978, all teachers have needed to complete a graduate or postgraduate qualification. However, many of our former students completing a Certificate of Education have spent their careers in teaching, encouraging thousands of young people to reach their full potential. As such, the purpose of the event is to formally acknowledge this important contribution.

The event will take place at Francis Close Hall, Cheltenham, in early September 2025. Cert Ed alumni are invited to get in touch with us to express their interested in attending, and to encourage their fellow alumni to do so as well.
